DC7 Project: Explainable Artificial Intelligence for internal logistics systems in green manufacturing

PhD Supervisor: prof. Rafał Cupek (SUT); Auxiliary supervisors: David Camacho (UPM); Salvatore Cuomo (UNINA), Jia-Chun Lin (NTNU); R&D cooperation: AIUT

Objectives: To develop flexible internal logistics systems that are based on AGV with a focus on energy- and time-efficient planning, scheduling and analysis. To focus on fully autonomous, energy-efficient AGVs that have an automatic interface with a Manufacturing Execution System that is supported by Explainable Artificial Intelligence.

Expected Results: A fully integrated production environment with active and real-time interactions with all of the related elements in the ecosystem. The XAI based services supporting human, i.e., operators and machine communication, warehouse and logistics management software, collaborative robots Manufacturing Execution Systems and other actors that are involved in a green manufacturing environment.

Applied research: Newly developed methods for energy management and online process data monitoring will allow for deeper knowledge acquisition of intralogistics processes. Methods for agile communication between intralogistics components and third party systems can potentially extend portfolio of technology used by AIUT.
